Retro: Controllers in the Present
Continuing our greatest series of all time is the second part in our three-part set of episodes on the evolution of controllers. John and I, coupled with some of our first-ever voicemails, had a great discussion on the then-current generation of controllers.I think, going back four to six years, the modern day gaming controllers were coming into their own. There were a few controllers that really defined the future of controllers, those being the SNES controller and the original Playstation controller.
On the second part of this series was where we really started to realize that ergonomics began to play a huge role in the development of a console's controller. Although, John will still say that there's no explanation whatsoever for the three-pronged oddity that is the N64 controller, unless Miyamoto had a dream where every human was three-handed, and Nintendo decided to run with it...
If you're still around, thanks again to the great fans back then who contributed to this great set of shows.
